Incredible Alice

The new album presentation of a young talented singer, composer and poet Alice Lizard was bright, interesting and stylish. Numerous guests were filled with admiration. Everything went so well that we wanted to repeat it straightway.

- Alice, are you satisfied?

- For sure. The presentation lasted 3 hours and a half, I had been waiting and preparing for it for more than a month and of course I was worrying. I wasn’t nervous, though, I felt joy in my soul: I am always calm before performances; I am on a roll and always feel like going on the stage. When the presentation started, I just burst with emotions.

- You named your first album “Like a Lizard”. Is this song very special to you?

- Yes. I wrote this song when I was ten and since then I’ve started my creative work as a composer, and when I was 9 I decided to be a singer. I clearly remember that I didn’t sit down on a chair and say: right now I will write words and music. It happened unexpectedly to me: there came a melody and I wanted to write it down. Then the songs followed one after another. It seems they come to me from above. Suddenly I feel that music sounds inside me and I just turn it into scores. Inspiration often comes in my dreams. I can wake up at night and compose. It happens to sound in my head when I do homework. Or when I have dinner… All of a sudden I hear a melody, I jump up and go to my room and it’s impossible to bring me back. I go out with ready lyrics, music and sketches of arrangements.

- Your album consists of very different songs – romantic, major, inspiring to act, philosophical. On what basis do you combine them?

- All my songs from the first album and from the second one, which I have started working on, reflect my feelings, moods, attitude to life. As every person does, I have days full of events, sometimes they are calm, joyful, full of thoughts, responsible, bright, strict... – all these influence on my work. That is why my songs sound sincere. I am a very positive person, so are my songs, even when I sing about serious problems. Our life is not as complicated as it seems, we ourselves make it too difficult. Actually it is simple: if you want to be strong – just be it, if you want to have a good mood – make it. Smile and you will have a smile in return. It is like a domino effect – when you smile, you give this smile to another person. I don’t remember exactly who said this good phrase: “A smile is a soul’s kiss”. And the world has become better and kinder. I want to give positive emotions to people with my every song.

- Alice, you are a very serious-minded person for your 13-year-old age. You take everything what you see serious, so we are eager to know about the second album’s content. How many songs are there?

- There are 8 songs. Its working title is “Butterfly in a can”. When I wrote this song, I understood that it is worth being a title. It says that you mustn’t practice self-denial putting boarders around yourself. Don’t be a butterfly that was caught and placed into a can. The first line of the song is like this: humans are not insects, we all want freedom. For sure, what can be more precious in this world? You must live as you feel and stay yourself.

- Why does a person put himself into a can very often?

- Thanks God, that never happened to me, but as far as I know, people do this when they want to change something in themselves and they become very strict to themselves depriving themselves of many things, so their mood is ruined. Other people are put into a so-called-can by their own fears and complexes which they make up. I reckon both the behaviors are bad. In case you limit yourself for your sake, don’t overwork in it.

- How to get out of this “enclosed space”?

- Everyone needs to find his own way, solve the problem, not to give up. As an author of the song I just want to make a person, who listens to my music, get out of a can and live freely.

- They say, you are working on a musical?

- Now I am in the process of writing it.

I won’t reveal the plot for now. Let it be a surprise, in one word: its working title is “Fire and Water”, there is some magic, unexpected twists of fate, mysteries which are to be solved by the main characters. Many of them have unique super powers. In short, that is my favorite fantasy.

- Does it mean that you are keen on space theme?

- How could I not be? I try to use everything on maximum in my music. This topic attracts me with its mystery and immensity. I associate the space with some wide possibilities, unsolved enigmas…

- Imagine you were an alien…

- I would be a reptilian. I’ve read something about them and I like them very much. And I’ve liked lizards for all my life.

- Oh yeah, your life is full of action: new albums, new videos, and now the musical…

- And I am also writing a book on the topic of space fantasy, but I won’t tell you about the plot right now. But believe me, it will be exciting to read!

- We know that you like the sun and the rainy weather can spoil your mood, so here comes the autumn…

- All composers and poets adore autumn, they write about rain, early dusk, tight leaden sky… but I will never start doing this. Before such weather depressed me. Despite of heavy rains, dull sky, low clouds, I am in a good mood this autumn– I cheer up with the help of my lizard Zina and art. I get up easily on a grey day and feel happy for the dawn as if it were a joyful, light sunny day at the seaside. We all must bring good weather nearer with our positive thoughts.
