Stronger than before

A young singer, composer, poet Alice Lizard (her mum calls her Alice) is very talented, clever, beautiful and educated. Nature endowed her with everything.

- Alice, what new have you composed?

- As you know, I write songs in English. Inspiration comes to me exactly on this language. One of my new songs is called “A Happy day”. My favorite topic – I want all people to become happy, kind and joyful. The second song is about this: if you try, everything will be okay and everything will work out. It is called “Stronger than before”. The meaning is: I used to be abused but now I’ve became stronger and nobody will see my tears again. I am sure that a person has to be not only kind but strong. The song sounds really sincere because it’s about me as well. I am growing up and becoming stronger. I helped myself in it – I just decided that I will be strong. And there appeared something around that everyone felt that: “Oh yes, it’s better not to abuse her!” Our life is not as complicated as it seems, we ourselves make it too difficult. Actually it is simple: if want to be strong – just be it, if you want to have a good mood – make it. Smile and you will have a smile in return. It is like a domino effect – when you smile, you give this smile to another person. And the world has become better and kinder. I want to give positive emotions to people with my every song.

- You are in a good mood as a rule, right?

- I am. Otherwise I wouldn’t write positive songs. But I am alive and I feel sad sometimes, too. Then I start writing songs, make some things with my hands. I like drawing, especially lizards. Favorite things tune to positive mood.

- What is your bad mood connected with mostly?

- With rainy weather.

- So you like the sun as you are a light person?

- For sure. And the sea as well. When I look at it or just walk along admiring its waves, I feel something that I can’t describe. I like to swim far and dive deep taking pictures of marine animals, the bottom of the sea, sea grass. I often take pictures of everything that I want, without any purpose.

- That’s why you decided to have your own YouTube channel?

- Actually, it’s not my first try. When I was 10 and 11 I started my video blogs to share my performances, traveling and different funny stuff. Then I gave them up: maybe I got bored or I had nothing to tell about. And now I started my own channel and I think I will never give it up. I want to share with my followers everything that I am happy with. More than that, I have some interesting videos on my songs.

- It’s amazing how quickly you make them up.

- It seems they come to me from above. Suddenly I feel that music sounds inside me and I just turn it into scores. Inspiration often comes in my dreams. I can wake up at night and compose. It happens to sound in my head when I do homework. Or when I have dinner… All of a sudden I hear a melody, I jump up and go to my room and it’s impossible to bring me back. I go out with ready lyrics, music and sketches of arrangements. There is a modern singer Sia, her songs also inspire me. Just when I hear her, I want to compose my song right away and so a new melody appears in my head.

- You found your mission in music. What would you advise those who haven’t found their place to do?

- Try everything: what you like, what you don’t like. Try and don’t stop – something will definitely acquire its meaning; will become your hobby, interest and favorite activity in the end. It seems to me that your job and hobby must be in one package. For example, if a person likes painting, he should definitely become an artist or at least do it as a hobby.

- Do you follow fashion?

- A bit. I don’t like shopping. I don’t follow trends and wear what I like.

- But you look stylish in your music videos. And in general, too.

- Thank you, it’s pleasant to hear.

- Every day is full of events: school, musical school, vocal lessons, violin, piano, concerts, taking part in musical projects, studio records… performances abroad. How do you manage to do this?

- Responsibility and self-discipline help. Of course sometimes I feel tired. But it disappears as soon as I hear the word “stage”. I become so happy! I charge with energy, feel drive at the stage and the need to sing and perform better.

- Do you see the audience’s faces?

- I don’t try to watch definite people because there appears a question in my mind: what are they thinking about me right now?

- What is the most vivid moment in your work?

- Shooting the video with my lizard Rango. I wondered how he would behave in front of the camera. And he fully satisfied my expectations as he behaved perfect.

- Let’s announce briefly to our readers that now your new music video is about to release; its shooting took several days. There is nice music and poems and images in it. Rango, your favorite lizard, also took part in it because this video is about him. When did you start feeling love to lizards?

- I think I’ve always felt it.

- Why do they attract you?

- No idea why I love them so much. My mum told me: when I was 4 or 5, I asked Santa Clause for the encyclopedia about reptiles. And he presented me with it, of course. I studied it from cover to cover. I like visiting terrariums in the zoo. And I am not afraid of snakes.

- Do they love you too?

- I don’t know, but I feel they do.

- How did Rango appear in your family?

- It was a birthday present from my parents. First we named it Zina as we thought it was female, but it turned out to be male so we renamed it Rango. Once I put make up in a form of a lizard on my face, then it took me long to remove it.

- Viewers remember your song about saving our planet very well. It’s hard to imagine how it’s possible to express this theme in music even stronger. It was just a heart cry. Why did this ecological topic appear in your art?

- Our teacher announced that we needed to think of a song for some ecological concert. And I made it. This theme worries me a lot like many people on our planet. We see how nature is being polluted year after year comparing with what it was at the beginning of the 20th century, let alone these days. If people think about it, we will be able to change something. So the chorus in my song sounds like this: “We must keep it before it’s too late”.

- What are you dreaming about, Alice?

- To become a singer and a composer in the future. As for now – to take part in a TV show “The Voice. Kids”, to record an album. I wish it were a success.
